Begoña Barrera is PhD in Contemporary History, with International Mention, at the University of Seville (Spain). She currently holds a Postdoctoral fellowship in the Department of Contemporary History at the same institution.. Before that, she had a FPU predoctoral fellowship (Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities, Spain, 2015-2019). Her main fields of specialization are the study of Francoist Dictatorship from a cultural and political perspective, as well as the Roma Studies, focused on Romani art and literature in post-World War II France. Her work combines innovative historiographical approaches: History of Emotions, Biographical History and Gender History.

She is editor of Paradojas de la ciudadanía, the scientific blog of the research project on Roma history History of The Gypsies: Exclusion, Stereotypes and Citizeship (XVIII-XX Centuries).
